Program Overview
WHAT DOES A TRAINING ROTATION INCLUDE?
The Clinical Abortion Training Centers focus on ensuring applicants are trained to competency in abortion procedures. Didactics are combined with hands-on learning to ensure that trainees are comprehensively trained to provide care in different settings. Sites also offer trainees limited follow-up support following the completion of the training rotation.
Please note the training centers are not employment programs and participants will not be paid any compensation by the training centers.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Training slots are open to all licensed clinicians who are interested in and legally allowed to provide comprehensive abortion care. This may include:
- Post-graduate physicians
- Advanced practice clinicians
- Residents
Training slots may also be available for other types of abortion health care workers. Priority will be given to applicants who have existing commitments to provide abortion care in underserved communities within the United States.
HOW LONG IS THE TRAINING ROTATION?
Training rotation lengths vary widely, based on current level of training and training goals. Training rotations can last anywhere from two weeks to eight weeks. However, because of the variability in training needs and backgrounds, please contact the application manager if you are uncertain if you will be able to commit the necessary amount of time for training.
WHERE ARE THE CENTERS LOCATED?
Training centers are located in different states within the United States including: Florida, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania. Additional information regarding the training locations will be provided upon completion of the application and interview process.
HOW MUCH DO THE TRAINING ROTATIONS COST?
Accepted trainees will not be charged any training fees. Certain applicants may also be eligible for travel and lodging reimbursement for their training rotation. Eligibility for the travel and lodging reimbursement is determined through the application process and eligible applicants will be notified following their interview and reference checks.
WHEN DO THE APPLICATION PERIODS OPEN?
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year, and the application manager will work with you and the site to find the best time for the training rotation. Applications take approximately four to six weeks to review.
If you know that you will only be available for a certain time during the year, then you are encouraged to apply as far in advance as possible, since setting up insurance, medical licensing, and ensuring the site has availability can all impact the rotation start date.
